Fishing Trips
The Arkansas River offers some of the best fishing anywhere in the west. Our guides are locals who have lived and fished in this valley for generations. They know the best time of year for all the hatches and the best sections for the most productive fishing. Many companies on the Arkansas offer fishing on the side and will give you one of their regular guides who will know very little about the specifics and finer details of fishing on the Arkansas. Fishing is a passion of ours at Buffalo Joe's and we fish the Arkansas year round. So you can expect a PROFFESIONAL FISHING GUIDE when you book a trip with Buffalo Joe's.

If you are a fly fisherman plan to come in early May during the famous Arkansas River caddis hatch. If you have never fished the Arkansas during this time you will be amazed with the number of trout that gorge themselves on the millions of caddis flies. Or schedule a trip later in the year when the river clears up and the Hoppers, May Flies, and Stone Flies are out. We limit the number of fly fisherman per boat to two. This way there is plenty of room for casting. Check out our overnight trip this will allow you to float fish as well as hike the inaccessible Browns Canyon for the best of both float fishing and wade fishing. We find that most exciting fishing is through dry flies but a number of wet flies may be what it takes to get a Brown, Rainbow, Native, or Brook Trout on your line.

If spin fishing is more up your alley we know all the lures that work the best. You can expect to catch mostly Brown Trout but Rainbow Trout, Native Trout, and Brook Trout also inhabit the waters of the Arkansas. We also offer an overnight trip that gets you over six miles into the inaccessible Browns Canyon where you have the entire evening and mourning to hike and fish.
All full day fishing trips include the Famous Buffalo Joe's Steak Dinner so you will have enough energy to haul in the big one!
We at Buffalo Joe's strongly encourage catch and release but if you choose you can keep up to four Trout of legal size.
Anglers Junction offers the scenic beauty of the Wild Rocky Mountains as the setting for your guided fly-fishing adventure. From its pristine beginnings near Leadville, Colorado, the Arkansas River follows the 14,000-foot mountain peaks of the Collegiate Range south to Salida, Colorado. Here the Arkansas River turns east flowing through the Bighorn Sheep Canyon to the Royal Gorge and beyond.
The Arkansas River is a unique body of water, offering Gold Medal fishing stretches that hold Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout. A float-fishing trip with one of our professional guides affords you access to public and private waters that are only accessible by boat.
Buffalo Joe’s and Anglers Junction work hand in hard to insure you will have the best possible experience on the Arkansas River.
